Apatokephalops was named by Lu (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-l Sepkoski's reference number: 927]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Remopleurididae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
