Taxonomy
Promytilus acinaciformis was named by Harrington (1955). Its type specimen is CPBA 5785 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southeastern flank of Cerro Nortero, middle Bonete Fm, Sierra de las Tunas, which is in a Sakmarian transition zone/lower shoreface mudstone/quartzite in the Bonete Formation of Argentina.
