Hoekaspis was named by Kobayashi (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ogygiinae by Harrington and Leanza (1957); to Isotelinae by Harrington et al. (1959); to Asaphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
