Liomegalaspides was named by Lu and Chang (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1266]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); to Asaphidae by Zhou et al. (1998), Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Nobiliasaphinae by Zhou and Zhou (2019).
