Mioptychopyge was named by Zhou et al. (1998) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1266]. It is not extant. Its type is Ptychopyge trinodosa.
It was assigned to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002); to Asaphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Nobiliasaphinae by Zhou and Zhou (2019).
