Norasaphus was named by Fortey and Shergold (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: O l Sepkoski's reference number: ZR85]. It is not extant. Its type is Norasaphus (Norasaphus) skalis.

It was assigned to Asaphidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Asaphida by Sepkoski (2002).
