Deningeria iannacei was named by Senowbari-Daryan and Zamparelli (1999). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Golfo della Serra, Calabria, Italy, which is in a Norian/Rhaetian reef, buildup or bioherm dolomite in Italy.
