Interpresosaurus was named by Kurkin (2001). Its type is Interpresosaurus blomi.
It was assigned to Dicynodontidae by Kurkin (2001), Ivakhnenko (2003); and to Dicynodontinae by Ivakhnenko (2008).

A. A. Kurkin 2001 | Medium-seized dicynodont, skull approximately 13 cm long. Preorbital part of skull shortened; anterior rim of orbits on level with posterior edge of canine alveolus. Upper jaw lacking teeth, except for pair of relatively small canines. In region of canine alveolus, maxillae with weakly developed lateral expansions. Canines directed ventrally. Lateral part of nares increased. Preparietal lengthened, lacking depressions, and reaching level of postorbital arch. Parietal region substantially narrower than interorbital region. Postorbital almost adjoining each other behind parietal foramen. Palatines lacking contact with premaxilla and separated from the latter by narrow flanges of maxillae. Parietal foramen round. |
