Taxonomy
Protoanidanthus umbonatus was named by Shi and Waterhouse (1996). Its type specimen is GSC 97128 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is JBW89, Ettrain Creek, which is in a Sakmarian marine sandstone in the Jungle Creek Formation of Canada.
