Circulocrania was named by Fortey and Owens (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 726]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cyclopygidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
