Kindbladia was named by Frederickson (1948) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-l Sepkoski's reference number: 483]. Its type is Kindbladia wichitaensis.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dokimocephalidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
