Hungarobatrachus szukacsi
Taxonomy
Hungarobatrachus szukacsi was named by Szentesi and Venczel (2010). Its type specimen is MTM V2008.16.1, a limb element (Incomplete right ilium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Iharkút mine, Bakony mountains (Unit 1), which is in a Santonian crevasse splay claystone/sandstone in the Csehbánya Formation of Hungary. It is the type species of Hungarobatrachus.

Venczel 2010 | A middle-sized anuran, with estimated snoutvent length of 50-60 mm, differing from all other anurans in the following two autapomorphies: (1) iliac crest heavily built, extremely tall (i.e. about 2.5 times higher than iliac shaft), and sculptured laterally by longitudinal grooves and bony ridges that anastomose posteriorly; (2) interiliac tubercle huge and medially bears an extensive sutural surface developed at the level of the preacetabular region. |
