Taxonomy
Metabowmania was named by Kobayashi (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem]. It is not extant. Its type is Metabowmania latilimbata.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hillyardina by Jell and Adrain (2002), Adrain et al. (2003).

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hillyardininae by Adrain and Westrop (2007).
