Peraspis was named by Whittington (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Llde Sepkoski's reference number: 383]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Nileidae by Fortey (1975), Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
