Pentremites (Granatocrinus) granulosus was named by Meek and Worthen (1865).

It was recombined as Granatocrinus granulosus by Meek and Worthen (1865); it was recombined as Schizoblastus granulosus by Etheridge and Carpenter (1886); it was recombined as Cribroblastus granulosus by Hambach (1903); it was recombined as Cryptoblastus granulosus by Cline (1937); it was recombined as Poroblastus granulosus by Fay (1961).
