Paikasigudodon yadagirii

Taxonomy
Kotatherium yadagirii was named by Prasad and Manhas (1997). Its type specimen is VPL/JU/KM/10, a tooth (a right upper molar), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Paikasigudem village, which is in a Toarcian/Aalenian terrestrial siltstone/sandstone in the Kota Formation of India.

It was recombined as Paikasigudodon yadagirii by Prasad and Manhas (2002), Prasad and Manhas (2002), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).

Manhas 1997Differs from Kotatherium haldanei in having upper molars with relatively less strongly labially tilted paracone; metastyle smaller than metacone; stylocone barely smaller than metacone but larger than metastyle, not as strongly labially deflected as in K. haldanei, and separated from the paracone nearly at the same level as did the metacone; parastyle offset from the paracone - stylocone line; presence of posterolingum accessory cuspule and accessory cuspules on the labial cingulum; near transverse arrangement of metacone, metastyle, and posterolingual accessory cuspule.
