Taxonomy
Pseudoliva lutulenta was named by Kensley and Pether (1986). Its type specimen is SAM-PQ-KN552, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Koingnaas/Swartlintjies 50m Complex, which is in a Pliocene transition zone/lower shoreface mudstone in South Africa.

Columel1a cal1us smooth, convex, reaching posteriorly to level of suture, outline evenly convex on inner-lip body whorl; parietal node somewhat elongate, forming shal10w groove-like posterior canal. Base with strong furrow running from shallow sinus in anterior outer lip, around lower body whorl, to midpoint of columella callus; second, less clearly defined groove anterior to strong groove, neither groove marked on inner surface of outer lip. |
