Griffithidella was named by Hessler (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Phillipsiidae by Brezinski (2000); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proetidae by Brezinski (1998), Jell and Adrain (2002).
