Taxonomy
Adelophthalmidae was named by Tollerton (1989). It is not extant. Its type is Adelophthalmus. It is the type family of Adelophthalmoidea.
It was assigned to Hughmilleroidea by Brauckmann et al. (2003); to Eurypterida by Tetlie and Dunlop (2005); and to Adelophthalmoidea by Lamsdell et al. (2013), Dunlop et al. (2013), Dunlop et al. (2020), Lamsdell (2025).
