Lepidotes elvensis
Taxonomy
Cyprinus elvensis was named by de Blainville (1818). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Elbes, Aveyron, which is in a Toarcian marine limestone in France. It is the type species of Lepidotus.
It was recombined as Lepidotus elvensis by Woodward (1895) and Woodward (1916); it was recombined as Lepidotes elvensis by Hay (1902), Wenz (1967), Delsate (1997), Friedman et al. (2010) and López-Arbarello (2012).
