Taxonomy
Namuropyge was named by Richter and Richter (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: C (Tour-l) C (Bash-u)]. Its type is Namuropyge demaneti.

It was assigned to Aulacopleurinae by Thomas and Owens (1978); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Aulacopleuridae by Jell and Adrain (2003); and to Brachymetopinae by Müller et al. (2021).
