Taxonomy
Peltabellia was named by Whittington (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-u O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 388,795]. Its type is Jeffersonia peltabella.

It was assigned to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Bathyuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Bathyurinae by Fortey and Bruton (2013).
