Pulcherproetus was named by Lutke (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl-u S Prid Sepkoski's reference number: 933]. It is not extant. Its type is Proetus pulcher.
It was assigned to Proetinae by Zhou et al. (2000); to Proetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002).
