Taxonomy
Rananasus was named by Cullison (1944) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l]. Its type is Ranasasus conicus.

It was corrected as Ranasasus by Loch (2007).

It was assigned to Trilobita by Sepkoski (1998); to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002); to Bathyuridae by Loch (1995), Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Bathyurinae by Loch (2007), McCobb et al. (2014).
