Strigigenalis was named by Whittington and Ross (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-u O Aren-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,795]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Bathyuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Proetida by Sepkoski (2002).
