Psalidopodidae was named by Wood-Mason and Alcock (1892) [no fossil representatives ]. It is extant. Its type is Psalidopus.

It was assigned to Psalidopodoidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Caridea by Schweitzer et al. (2023).
