Dianops was named by Richter (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. Its type is Phacops limbatus.

It was assigned to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phacopidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
