Taxonomy

Astacus sussexiensis was named by Mantell (1824). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Enoploclytia sussexiensis by van Straelen (1936); it was recombined as Enoploclytia (Palaeastacus) sussexiensis by Mertin (1941); it was recombined as Palaeastacus sussexiensis by Aguirre-Urreta (1989), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Feldmann et al. (2015), Devillez et al. (2016), Ossó et al. (2024).

Synonyms

Enoploclytia brevimana was named by M'Coy (1849). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cherry Hinton (University of Cambridge collection), which is in a Cenomanian carbonate chalk in the Lower Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeastacus sussexiensis by Devillez et al. (2016).
Palaeastacus dixoni was named by Bell (1850). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Enoploclytia dixoni by Woods (1931); it was synonymized subjectively with Enoploclytia sussexiensis by van Straelen (1936); it was synonymized subjectively with Palaeastacus sussexiensis by Aguirre-Urreta (1989), Feldmann et al. (2015), Devillez et al. (2016).
Phlyctisoma granulatum was named by Bell (1863).

It was synonymized subjectively with Enoploclytia sussexiensis by van Straelen (1936); it was recombined as Pustulina granulata by Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was synonymized subjectively with Palaeastacus sussexiensis by Devillez et al. (2016).
Hoploparia scabra was named by Bell (1863).

It was synonymized subjectively with Enoploclytia sussexiensis by van Straelen (1936); it was recombined as Palaeastacus scaber by Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was synonymized subjectively with Palaeastacus sussexiensis by Devillez et al. (2016).
