Taxonomy
Nephrops americanus was named by Rathbun (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 4 mi SW of Fort Worth, 1/2 mi S of Baptist Seminary, which is in an Aptian marine claystone in the Pawpaw Formation of Texas.
