Taxonomy
Callianassa lacunosa was named by Rathbun (1918). Its type specimen is USNM 324278, a claw, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 6012a, Canal Zone, which is in a Burdigalian marine shale/mudstone in the Culebra Formation of Panama.
