Taxonomy
Callianassa stridens was named by Rathbun (1918). Its type specimen is USNM 324281, a claw, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 6019e, Canal Zone, which is in an Aquitanian marine sandstone in the Culebra Formation of Panama.
