Taxonomy
Eryon crassichelis was named by Woodward (1866). It is not extant. Its type locality is Lyme Regis (Captain Hussey collection), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian offshore limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Coleia crassichelis by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
