Taxonomy
Vegarthron santiago was named by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2002). Its type specimen is SDSNH 81078 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ocean Ranch, which is in an Uintan marine siltstone in the Santiago Formation of California. It is the type species of Vegarthron.
