Cancrinidae was named by Beurlen (1930). It is not extant. Its type is Cancrinos.

It was assigned to Palinuroidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Achelata by Schweitzer et al. (2015), Schweitzer and Feldmann (2024).
