Crucicephalus was named by Shergold (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-u Sepkoski's reference number: 496]. It is not extant. Its type is Crucicephalus ocellatus.

It was assigned to Eulomidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002).
