Galahetes was named by Öpik (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid Sepkoski's reference number: 16]. It is not extant. Its type is Galahetes fulcrosus.

It was assigned to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002); and to Xystriduridae by Laurie (2006).
