Koraipsis was named by Kobayashi (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem]. Its type is Koraipsis spinus.

It was assigned to Pilekiidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pilekiinae by Perez-Peris et al. (2021).
