Jurellana was named by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2010). Its type is Jurellana tithonia. It is the type genus of Jurellanidae.
It was assigned to Porcellanidae by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Jurellanidae by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2024).
