Yunnanocephalus was named by Kobayashi (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 463,885]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Yunnanocephalidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002).
