Atropicaris was named by Arduini and Brasca (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 619,693]. It is not extant. Its type is Atropicaris rostrata.
It was assigned to Conchyliocarida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Microcarididae by Schram (2014), Ehiro and Kato (2015).
