Clausocaris was named by Polz (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is the type genus of Clausocarida.
It was assigned to Clausocarida by Arduini (1992); to Conchyliocarida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Clausocarididae by Schram (2014).
