Taxonomy
Necrocarcinus oklahomensis was named by Rathbun (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Frisco Railroad Bridge (No. 5710), 2 1/2 mi NW of Blue Springs, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine horizon in the Ripley Formation of Mississippi.

It was recombined as Cenomanocarcinus oklahomensis by Schweitzer et al. (2003), Schweitzer et al. (2010), van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014), Schweitzer et al. (2016) and Franţescu et al. (2016).
