Taxonomy
Araripecarcinus was named by Martins-Neto (1987). It is not extant. Its type is Araripecarcinus ferreirae.
It was assigned to Raninidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010); to Necrocarcinidae by Karasawa et al. (2014); and to Necrocarcinoidea by Schweitzer et al. (2016), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
