Taxonomy
Raniliformis ornata was named by De Angeli and Beschin (2007). Its type specimen is MCZ 2679 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cava Boschetto di Chiampo (Museo Civico G. Zannato collection), which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in Italy.
