Ohiocaris was named by Rolfe (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-l D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 425]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Ohiocarididae.
It was assigned to Archaeostraca by Sepkoski (2002); to Pephricaridina by Briggs et al. (2004); and to Ohiocarididae by Brooks et al. (1969) and Feldmann and Schweitzer (2019).
