Angelosquilla was named by Hof and Schram (1998) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m Sepkoski's reference number: 1262]. It is not extant. Its type is Angelosquilla altamirensis.

It was assigned to Stomatopoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Squillidae by Schram (2010).
