Cenocorystes was named by Collins and Breton (2009). It is not extant. Its type is Cenocorystes fournieri.
It was assigned to Raninoidinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Palaeocorystidae by van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
