Taxonomy
Palaeocorystes glabra was named by Woodward (1871). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Portsmouth dockyard extension, which is in an Eocene marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Raninoides glabra by Collins and Smith (1993), Schweitzer et al. (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Karasawa et al. (2014).
