Taxonomy
Eriosachila petiti was named by Blow and Manning (1996). Its type specimen is USNM 484551, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 26878, Martin Marietta Georgetown quarry, which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in the Santee Formation of South Carolina.
