Blepharipoda was named by Randall (1840) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Blepharipodidae.
It was assigned to Albuneidae by Rathbun (1926); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Blepharipodidae by Boyko (2002), Schweitzer et al. (2023).
